An article on blinding security cameras with lasers

http://www.c-h-a-o-s.com/2007/08/11/sniping-the-security/

It sounds like a little tweaking might be needed to get this working perfectly, but the idea seems sound. Any ideas for defense against this?

how about those dome covers where you don't see which way the camera is pointing? I guess that isn't protection since you have to buy new cameras!

I think you can get dome housings to retrofit to existing cameras, so this might be a reasonable solution.

Be interested to hear how you get on with this.
I have some AXIS Network cameras, I might try this out on, see if it has any effect.

It should be easy to do some simple testing with a laser pointer. One of the comments on the site mentions that it is a more effective attack if you use a blue or green laser and a lens to spread the size of the dot over a larger area when it hots the camera.
