Has anyone heard anything about this Masters Degree??
I'm going to do some more digging after work tonight but this is very interesting to me.

Certainly very interesting. A little pricey (but not compared to their competition). They are licensed but not yet regionally accredited (should be another year or so for that).

Here's a discussion from another board on the subject:
http://www.degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?t=29059

Speaking of degrees in general, not this one specifically, I'd be wary of the lack of accreditation. If I were going to do this, I would hold off until they get it in place.

Agreed I noticed they only were by New Mexico, but I'm sure in time they will be regionally and probably backed by the NSA for the CNSS standards.  I'll stick with the program I'm in even though the courses look awesome.

I used to know the timeframe on this, but I can't recall. If you search these forums it may have been mentioned in another thread. I do know for sure that they are seeking accreditation, but they have to be an institution for X number years to be licensed (which have achieved, by NM as you've stated) and then Y number of years longer until they are fully accredited.

If they are not at least a candidate for accrditation, I would stay away for now. I worked for a community college and learned way more than I cared to abbout it. Rrgionally has more stringent requirements than nationally and regionally is more transferable because of that. With that being said, If you are looking for a technical program, national tipically fits the bill better. Do your research before committing. Good luck.

For purposes of comparison, the MS program from SANS is in pretty much exactly the same boat:

Alright, found it. I did post info about this in another thread a while ago, here's the excerpt:

Quote
Now before you ask, here's the deal with the Univ. They are licensed in the state of New Mexico (licensing takes 2 years). They are on the way to becoming an accredited university, which will take another 3 years. They currently show 2 Masters (I think) programs on their website, but will also offer a 4 year Bachelors program as well.

So it would be my guess that they have 2 more years to go until reaching accreditation (not sure if it's regional or national, I'll see if I can find out).

Here's the original thread with that info.

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to provide a quick update to this post.

EC-Council University is currently in the process with the DETC (Distance Education and Training Council) for their accreditation. The DETC is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (www.chea.org).

You can see ECC Uni listed here on the DETC website:
http://www.detc.org/new_applicants.html

Hope that helps.

Any idea how long that will take, out of curiosity?

The whole process takes about two years start to finish. DETC is a nationally accrediting body. What that means is that if you start there, you are going to want to finish there. Here is a good wiki on accreditation:

Too bad I'm already in a program that one looks like it would have been a good one.
