My Wifi cracked
«
on:
August 19, 2008, 11:18:30 AM »
I have found that someone local is using my intenet connection on my "secure router" anyway im not that arsed that they have bypassed it I have been meaning to only allow mac address but just to lazy lol. Now that I have somoene on my network instead of just shitting them off I want to have a little fun with them first...
I want to know what I can do with them? I have heard about being able to fool his computer into thinking my PC is the router and being able to see what he is using my net for? also would like to teach him a lesson without distroying his stuff. I think I could have some fun if someone can tell me what to do.

I would suggest an easier route of resetting your router and re-configuring the security settings correctly (use a strong passphrase with WPA2, hide the SSID if you want and/or enable MAC filtering if you want).

I would do what Bill suggested as quickly as possible, because you have no idea what he has been up to. Hopefully your connection is not being used for child pornography, downloading music illegally or trying something stupid like hack amazon.com or even worse a military or government site. But if you feel you want to take a chance and see what they are doing, since they are now part of your network you should be able to sniff their traffic without doing much at all. If you see their traffic as encrypted, you need to pull the plug ASAP!

Eager,
I would
highly
suggest taking Bill and Kev's advice, you have no idea what the other party could be doing with your connection.
Besides the fun has already been had before (
upside-down-ternet
)
I'd suggest re-configuring your device and having a laugh at someone elses story. You still get a laugh with none of the potential risks.

Do a good ol' ping-of-death?
Won't do much good against any sort of modern OS.
Now, if he has a network that is vulnerable to Smurf- or Fraggle-style attacks, he may be able to DDoS the guy.....but that (by definition) will also be hitting his own connection, so is a bit questionable as a concept for revenge.
Firing up Ettercap and injecting himself into they guy's traffic may allow for some fun (from the harmless -- switching images, etc. -- to the not so harmless -- harvesting of passwords, session hijacking, etc.)
All in all, though, I would take the advice above and just get rid of the guy rather than risk him knowing more than you do.
If you _really_ want to go after him, do yourself a favor and move any sensitive machines onto a separate network/wireless first.....then tie your attack box into the compromised wireless and go after him with at least a modicrum of impunity.

Well if I was so inclined to have my revenge, I would disconnect my wireless router from the internet ( this would stop him form doing any more possible harm and give us some control of what he might access if you know what I mean) and force his browser to receive whatever I was inclined to send. Maybe it would say something like " to access the internet please pay $10 for 1 hour" or maybe I might just say "I know who you are and stop free loading "

I'll agree with the rest of the crowd... but since you asked about fun...
He is on your network, right? And you have every right to pen test your own network. After all, you own it, so you can give yourself permission.
Why not practice the steps in a real pen test. Give yourself some good practice with Nmap, Nessus, Metasploit, fgdump, 0phcrack, etc.
Who said fun couldn't be educational, too!!

In the vain of having fun.. If you have an extra wireless router, set it up with the same SSID annd whatever security measures he has already defeated
and pop it into place for him to connect to and you can connect to it to play. Apply real security to your 'REAL' accesspoint. If you want him to stay interested plug the 'fake' router into your 'real' router so he can still get to the web but is on a different internal network that your network.
Hmmm I hope that makes sense :p

I saw somthing strange from the window of a house 5 doors down the other night, as i was drivng to my house from the top window I could see a blue blinking light small but bright then today the same window has a round silver thing looks like a culander with what looks like a wifi stick. poss directional wifi (home made) I have a 22 air rifel so im going to shoot it next time I see someone connected.

Wooooahh. Not sure but that sounds like an Amagamated 5000. This is highly specifed scanner that was brought in from the Alpha Centauri region. this REEKS of alien activity your air rifle is not only useless, it could spark an intergalactic incident.

I have to agree. Your 22 air rifle will be useless against their advanced technology. You better just wait for the MIB backup to come with their "noisy cricket".
