Air Force Halts Cyber Command Program

Quote
After months touting its intention to be the front line for defending cyberspace, the Air Force has suspended plans to establish its much hyped Cyber Command program, according to Nextgov.
The program is being halted until new senior Air Force leaders have time to review it and determine a focus and direction.

Speaking as a former member of the Air Force I bet this is completely political. Some new General wanted to get credit for the new Cyber command so they stop all the old Generals plans dead in the water. I saw this kind of stuff all the time. Policies would get reversed or drastically changed as soon as you got a brand new General appointed.

Being former military myself, I have seen change for the sake of change way too many times. Got to love politics.....

I think the main issue was that the Air Force was making a power grab to own all CyberSecurity, whereas the Navy and Army with there own Cyber groups had a slight problem with that

I am a former AF info warefare guy, and I have to agree. it is probably more political than anything. Someone wants to lift thier leg and mark their territory and work on that next peice of brass.

That's too bad because those new jobs look pretty good.

BillV,
More then likely the new jobs will still be created. The new "leadership" will make a few changes to the program. Maybe change the mission statement a bit possibly even shift it into a cross-service agency, integrating the Army and Navy. Then spin the program back up with all new press releases but with one major difference the new Generals name in all the articles. You gotta love bureaucracy.
