I justgot the ECSA/LPT 3.05 courseware today.
I'm doing the self paced study through Specialized Solutions (they give me some CD-ROMs with videos instead of a live instructor).
I've only just started watching the videos, but it seems mostly similar to the CEH, so far. It is going a bit more in depth with certain tools.

I was just wondering if there is a nice study guide, like the Official CEH Review Guide that helped me so much with CEH exam, to help prep me for the ECSA exam when I am finished with the videos, or if you have any other helpful information for getting ready for this exam.

I'm really excited to get more into this course!

Thanks!

No, there are no ECSA review guides that exist to my knowledge.

However, the ECSA is more like an "extension" to CEH than it is an entirely new exam. The reason being is that the CEH is meant to introduce you to the ridiculous amount of tools that it covers, and get you using them. The ECSA is more on understanding the output of those tools.

Now, I'd imagine that when you used them in CEH, you wanted to understand what the results were. You probably weren't just running 'nmap -v 192.168.1.2', seeing that it displayed some output, and then closing it. My guess was that you looked at the results of that scan to understand what it was displaying. This is the primary idea of the ECSA exam.

In other words, if you did alright on CEH, you should pass ECSA. You can use the same study guide for review.

You may also find my review on the ECSA/LPT course helpful Wink

Good luck and keep us updated.

Thanks for the review!

Since it is self paced training, it might take a few weeks, but I'm sure I will have questions along the way.

I didn't sign up here until after I finished the CEH exam, but I realize that I should have been on here from the start so I could ask questions. Every resource will be helpful, since there is not an instructor for me to ask questions.

Thanks again! Grin
