I know that the physical location of a computer can be easily determined if we know its IP address.
What I want to get the is IPs from geographical information alone.
for instance, I want to know how can I determine what IP addresses are assigned to the computers in my city.

How can I do it?

Thanks vijay2 for the info. But I want to write a tool that does this, something that does the reverse of traceroute, that is, it finds the IP assigned to a particular geographical location.

Any ideas are welcome. Until then I will look into the resource provided by vijay2.

I'm sure you also found this, but just in case, this may help your research:

Shakuni -

If you are using perl you might want to look at GeoIP  (http://www.maxmind.com/app/perl). It will give you the location by country, state and even city. If you don't use perl I noticed they have versions for C, C#,  JAVA, Pascal, PHP, Python and Ruby.

Hope that helps.

Good Luck!
