Interesting read, will keep following it up
another similar theme to your malware analysis is the "follow the bouncing malware" by by Tom Liston in
isc.sans.org

Follow the Bouncing Malware LIVE!!
This is the hour and a half audio recording and the PPT of his workshop at ChicagoCon last year. You literally get to see the breaking apart of a malware case from attack through reverse engineering to analysis. It was awesome.
I should really publicize this more.
