I don't even have any dual core computers, yet. Other than one laptop with a 64-bit processor and one server with dual Xeon processors, all of my equipment is 32-bit, single core. I haven't really needed much better, but I guess that's mostly because I don't need to play TF2, format a hard drive, crack RSA, and rip a movie all at the same time.

Still, the technology is impressive. If I had the extra cash, I would probably get the craziest technology I could afford.

The software programs are so far behind the hardware as it is, adding more cores to a board is just marketing fluff.  It's 99% to sell you a new piece of hardware, and 1% useful.  When software starts catching up with hardware, I'll be more interested.  That is... unless you're doing clustered john the ripper or something, then more stand alone computers are a cool thing.
