anybody got one of those Asus Eee PCs?  couple of people were running around with them at the con and i was thinking of picking one up for travel.

looks like it has a built in atheros card, yea wireless packet injection
will boot from a usb, yea your favorite linux iso
and you can add an extra 8GB flash disk

i was thinking about getting a nokia 800 type device but the asus has a keyboard, small but there.

thoughts?

if anyone cares the difference between the surf and pc is that the pc has built in cam and the surf comes in different colors.  also if anyone actually sees one of the 8GB ones for sale i'd appreciate a link.

You can pre-order here.

This certainly looks cool.  It makes me wish I hadn't already bought a Nokia 770.

I got one of these earlier this month.

Is anyone else using one, yet?

It is quite an impressive little machine. I use it as my main computer at home, and a little bit at work.

Those little laptops are all the rage now ....
The perfect little pen test box, outside of that though, I wouldn't get one for personal everyday use

Check out this, for the backtrack users

I don't use it for anything that requires serious computing...
Apparently the solid state drive that it comes with is only good for about 100,000 write cycles, so it is not good for compiling.

I do use it for every day stuff, like taking notes, checking the Ethical Hacker Network forums Grin , and watching movies.
With a USB DVD drive, I can use my normal live CDs like BackTrack and Helix.

This is a really great wardriving laptop. It's funny to turn on Airodump-ng or Kismet and drive through neighborhoods to see how many people have insecure wireless APs. I sometimes do this on my way home from work just to see how many I pick up. It sits nicely on my dashboard without sliding. Tongue

Thanks for that BackTrack link, oleDB!
