I'm sorry if this is asked a lot and I'd just like to say this isn't a teach me how to hack topic it's a tell me what I need to know and I'll learn it myself topic.

I just want to know what I would need to learn? Programming languages maybe? I don't know. Books I can read that are helpful? Articles and sites that are useful (apart from this one of course)?

It just depends on how much you want to learn, and how far in depth about hacking.  I would say to learn as much as you can about networking protocols and basics of networking.  From there, you will learn how the other things come into play, such as programming and exploiting.

I've always had an interest in hacking just never learned anything but would like to. I heard TCP/IP Guide and TCP/IP books are a good start?
