Description from www.movies.com:

Quote
Jennifer Marsh (Diane Lane) is a single mom and an investigator for the FBI's Internet Crimes division. When she's called upon to solve the agency's most grisly case ever — that of a serial killer who slowly murders his victims based on the number of visitors to a website —. little does she suspect that she has a personal connection with the psycho. Now she must find out what secret connection she shares with the madman before he can kill his next victim.

Official site with a cheesy game (notice the background of the OS), trailer, Ask an FBI Agent, etc:

http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/untraceable/

Once you bring down the server (not hard to do), then we get to see some Linux shots. The site also has some other info about cyber crimes.

Does this seem like a must see, wait for video or skip it? Good or bad, I always like to go see these movies to see how accurate they are. Strange how we techies do that. I've asked lawyers and doctors, and they don't watch movies or tv about their professions. We can't seem to get enough.  Huh

Oh well. If you're interested, it opens Jan. 25, 2008.

Yeah, I also just saw the trailer for this move on TV last night. I'm definitely going to go take a look at it once it comes out. My wife didn't sound nearly as enthused about it Roll Eyes

Yeah, I'll probably go and see it also even if its premise is wacked. Something about a website that the public can interact with but its totally untraceable, lol.

I do the same thing with military movies...

My wife isn't excited over this one either, but may be able to bargain taking her when it comes to the super-saver cinema.   Wink

Well... I am in the same boat.  I'm intrigued to see what the movie has to offer.. whether they have the guy using fast flux dns to hide, or whatever.  And the accuracy of the movie in general.  My GF refuses to go though, so it will be me and whoever I can find to hit the movie with. :/

Well, I give it a meh+. It was a medium ok movie. On the plus side, they managed to make it through the movie without any glaring, stick something sharp in your eye technical mistakes. It was at least a step up on The Net.
