Problem with remote network
«
on:
September 01, 2007, 11:05:41 PM »
I was told to search the net to find a solution to this problem and I can not find it. running Nmap on a remote network with a proxy of 192.168.2.254 give a finding of all port being filtered I have used every type of command including FTP bounce. I have came to the conclusion I might have to create a tunnel to the proxy server but have no idea how I would run nmap anyways how could I use proxytunnel to connect to the ftp server and them runnmap to get the ports of the machines on the netwrok
me --- VPN --- 192.168.6.0 network -- 192.168.2.265 proxy --- 172.15.2.0 network

I don't think nmap supports scanning through a proxy server. What you can do is manually check that the proxy supports the CONNECT request method to connect to arbitrary ports on the 172.* network. If you can't confirm this manually there's little point in trying to run a scanner through it.
CONNECT is used for SSL connections where the proxy does not act as a man in the middle. The proxy links the SSL connection from the client to the server and does not perform the HTTP request itself. A properly configured proxy will not allow arbitrary connections. Is anyone aware of a good proxy CONNECT scanner?

Hey dprophet,
By any chance, are you taking the Offensive Security 101 course. The problem you describe sounds familiar.
