Hi I wanted to try my hand at wireless penetration, however, the two cards that I had purchased (a Belkin F5D7000 and another one with a Atheros AR5005GS chip) doesn't seem to support packet capture.

Can anyone recomend a wireless card that will be able to do this, or let me know what I should look out for ?

You can download a list of wireless cards and their chip sets at the following link:

http://www.linux-wlan.org/docs/wlan_adapters.html.gz

You want a card with a prism 2 chip set but a few other chip sets will work, it mainly depends on the program your using.  I would recommend getting it off of eBay because finding the card you need in Best Buy or something like that is close to impossible.

If you're looking for an excelent (but not cheep) wireless card take a look at the Ubiquiti 300mW PCMCIA cards. These high power cards support package capture and do not have an internal antenna so you'll need an external antenna. These come highly recommended by many of those who have them.
