Hey fellas,

Anyone seen the latest flick Diehard 4.0 and Swordfish (starring John Travolta and H. Berry) ?

Ofcourse many must have seen them.

Some scenes is these movies are mindblowing.

Can 1 person do all this?

Is it really possible in todays world, to take control of the such big network with just a laptop?

What configuration will u need on da laptop man.
A 5 GB RAM and some 2-3 dual core processors i guess. Cheesy

And also Italian Job on the line.

Click here for more info. Its just for your humour. Nothing interesting !

Heh... I personally find Hacker's more funny to watch.  Those cg graphics of 'hacking' make me crack up everytime.  The 3D 'fly through' of 'Gibson' super computer... haha.  And, dont' we all love Angelina Jolie's (spelling) first movie?  I believe that was wasn't it?  Funny crap.  I actually won a couple things at a security conference this last year for my uncanny ability to retain useless trivia from crappy 80's movies.  The theme of the trivia contest at the Security conference was Hacker movies.  Tons of references to Wargames, Swordfish, Hackers, DieHard, Matrix, and so forth.  Tongue  I cleaned up on Hackers... that movie always cracked me up.

...but still there is some movies that have good story, like:
Antitrust
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0218817/

Firewall
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0408345/

on the Antitrust's Trivia:
Quote
President of NURV Gary Winston appears to be an amalgam of the CEOs of Microsoft and Apple: Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, respectively. NURV resembles Microsoft in power and composition, and Winston's appearance is modeled after Gates. But Gary Winston also posesses Steve Jobs' cutthroat business drive, fiery temper, and motivational speeches. This combination is also possibly supported by the coexistence of both PCs and Apple computers on the NURV compound...

the rest is on:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0218817/trivia

really funny.

Heh, firewall was pretty decent. I have never watched Antitrust though.  I may have to netflix that one.  I'm liking how at least a handful of modern 'hacker culture' films are employing actual screenshots of real hacking programs.  But there is just something classic about crappy 80's flicks like "Hackers"... where PC's have Mac screenshots on them.. and are hacking supercomputers in a VR 3D world! Wink  "Hack the Planet!" Haha....

Yeah, I'll have to check out Antitrust though, thanks for the insight Marshel

anybody that says they didnt like hackers when they first started is a liar.

its a good movie, frankly its hard to make entertaining staring at a computer all day looking for the one mistake in someone's defenses.  for the age, i think they did a good job making it watchable even if it is all fantasy land

Heh, Chris I don't know if you ment that as a general post or if you got the missconception that I might NOT like Hackers!  I proudly own, and generally at least anually watch that dvd.  Tongue  I think you're right, that it does definately have the entertaining factor, in relation to 'network security'.  Heh, you even have the black hat hacker who's hired to be a network admin, and who lives in a studio apartment filled with 3D games and geekery.  The 3D flybys through the Gibson are my favorite faked up sceens though.  It had all the aspects of entertainment, and gave out a message that most hackers were in it for learning and fun... not malicious reasons.

Hackers is a good movie, and probably one of my favorites that Angelina Jolie is in.
