As promised, here is a review and some exclusive sample chapters of the novel, Daemon.

Permanent Link: [Article]-Daemon - A Novel

Quote
EH-Net Exclusive
First 4 Chapters of Daemon

Enough technology to satisfy the hacker community, plenty of toys for the electronics buff but not too much of either to deter those merely interested in a fun read. Add in plenty of action to move the story along, great characters in which to sink your teeth and eye-opening views into the seedy cyber-underworld, and Daemon is poised to please the masses.

Daemon leaves a lot to be discussed. Please use this thread to discuss any of the topics from the book or thoughts on the novel itself.

I read all the free chapters this morning and now I have to buy the book.... I need to know what happens next. I like the story line so far and the tech Jargon is ok. Anyway I will defiantly buy this book.

Sounds like a good book. I've only had a chance to read the first chapter, but it definitely pulls in your attention.

Looks like a great read!  I just finished reading Echelon which kinda pulled me in just as this is doing to me now..  Just sucks that my library doesn't have Daemon.   Sad

Will for sure have to make time to read the rest of this. I read all 4 chapters at work without realizing it. I just looked this book up on Yahoo and Ethical Hacker.net was 4 and 5 on the hit list. I typed in Daemon A novel and the 4th hit took me to the 4 chapters on here and 5 brought me straight back to this forum.

Forgot to mention the official site for the novel in the review. Really good use of flash, and a great link back to EH-Net using the voice of the daemon to introduce us. Too cool.  Cool

Thanks Leinad and sorry for the oversight,

Awesome site. There are an additional 3 chapters on the site as well as some links. Talking about some of the devices and tech used in the book. Such as MRI scans being used as a lie detector. I have not seen it used to tell what someone says but it is the BEST lie detector to date. Also the sonic sound is a very useful riot control weapon being researched.  Excellent site to make you think about some things.

I'm also going to purchase Daemon this weekend along with another book called

"The Cuckoo's Egg: Tracking a Spy Through the Maze of Computer Espionage"

I heard that this book is a classic and that any security professional should have a chance to read this book.

I am about half way thought this book and all I can say is wow! This is a very well written book and the technical details are correct so far. I recommend this book to anyone in IT security, AI, Or is just a geek. Well worth the cash spent and if you decide to get this book make sure to use the link here on EH-Net.

My last update on this book. I finished the book but now I am left wanting more. There is got to be a sequel book coming soon as it kinda leaves you hanging at the end. Anyway I just want everyone here to know this book is well worth the price and just go buy it you will not be sorry.

Met Leinad at DefCon as he was researching a possible sequel. Seeing as how it took him 3.5 years to write this one, the second, if it happens at all, may be quite a ways away.

Very cool guy and I enjoyed hanging out in Vegas with him, Brian Wilson and a forth member of the party who shall remain nameless.  Lips sealed
