LSO is hosting a hacking competition this Saturday the 10th of February at 1pm EST. International players make sure to check the time at
www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ to make sure you are there on time as for many of you it will be late Saturday evening or early Sunday morning.
PLAYER SKILL LEVEL:
This competition is designed for players with a beginner to intermediate level of
experience in the security field. This is part of the reason why it is a team
competition as well, because it forces you to work with other players and that
facilitates the learning. The skills tested and developed in this competition
include familiarization with both Windows and Linux/Unix, the ability to perform
simple administrative tasks such as adding/removing users, installing/upgrading
software, enabling/disabling services, to security tasks such as system security
auditing (penetration testing or ethical hacking), system performance and log file
analysis, intrusion detection, and incident response/forensics. Remember the goal of
this as well as any other LSO hacking competition is learning. Dont worry if you
are new to the field, dont worry if you dont know Linux, all of this is
addressed by playing in teams allowing you to learn from and help other players.
