I want to recommend this to anyone who wants or is currently in network security.  Also, for those of you going for the CEH this is a good start.

If you've never owned a Hacking Exposed book, then go right for v5. Although new stuff has been added to version 5, v4 will also suffice as not a whole hell of a lot changed.

Just in case, here's the link:
Hacking Exposed 5

Dengar - Is there any one chapter you like over the rest? I can contact the publisher and post a sample chapter like we have for other books.

I liked Part 2:  System Hacking the best because it is the most relevant to my position.  My least I would say is part of Part 4:  Software hacking, Hacking code specifically.  Coding bores me and I think it just becomes mundane.  Not to knock anyone, it is just not my cup of tea.  The first couple of pages before the book starts hooks you immediately.  It starts out with Google hacking and that information alone would make your jaw drop!   Shocked

Gosh. I'm 60 pages into this book, and I must say this book is boring. I guess I got spoiled by Ed in Counter Hack Reloaded, but this book is dry, and not organized very well. I don't think I can read this book.

Are there some good chapters in this book I should respect and read?

I know the methodology is there for what you need to carry out a penetration test.

But it just jumps around too much, and should be narrowed down so it isn't so scattered in the chapters. It doesn't flow like a book should. Just my opinion.
