Hey everyone,
I had so much fun in Lockpick Village at ShmooCon, that I'm starting a new group in my area, Jax Locksport. Hoping that this will be an official TOOOL chapter sometime in the future.
We're having our first Jax Locksport meeting in 2 weeks, on Friday, March 2. We're meeting at Tijuana Flats in San Marco (5635 San Jose Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL, 32207) on the first Friday of every month, with the Jax2600/DC904 group. We will continue to combine the two groups until we have enough members and are stable enough to branch it off into a separate meeting.
We've got plenty of locks and picks, people who are eager to help teach others, and we're planning on having some kind of competition/giveaway. It should be a lot of fun, and I hope to see a lot of people there!

Hmm, let's try to rule out the obvious problems. Did you extract the contents of the zip file before running setup.exe? If you're using Windows Vista/7, did you try to right-click setup.exe and "Run as administrator"? It looks like this has a lot more than just a hex-editor, but I've been using Notepad++ with the hex-editor plugin. I suppose I will give this a shot since I've got in installed now.

A brief observation of the videos indicates to me that the information is about the same as what I learned in CEHv5. That being said, in most of the demonstrations, he's also using BackTrack 3, which may also say something about the age of the content. The videos aren't wholly bad from what I've seen, just minor inconsistencies, like the volume level seems to change from one video to the next. In some modules, every section is numbered. Others are not. Some sections don't even have names, they'll be titled something like "Untitled-1". I guess they don't have very good quality control? Has anyone taken the exam, yet? Any ideas how long before the certification expires?

Ethical Hacking Discussions and Related Certifications / Other / Re: 64-Bit Linux Swap Partition Size Recommendation

My laptop was setup with Linux, plenty of hard drive space, 6 GB of RAM, and no swap partition. I was getting ready for a presentation on WEP cracking last month. I had no problem until I started collecting IV packets. I would only get to about 3,000 or so before the laptop would just crash.
It took me a while to figure out the problem, but all I did was use GParted on a LiveCD to shrink my Linux partition and add a 2 GB swap partition. No more problem.
