Hello everybody in this forum  i would like to know something .

first of all , iam terribly sorry for posting this post in this forum , but i don't know where can i post it anywhere else . it is a big problem i have

i had purchased a laptop specifically for installing backtrack on it for web application penetration testing it is a sony vaio Model Number : VGN NR330E
with mobile intel gl 960 express chipset   

first of all , i installed my backtrack on a flash card and made it executable
but when i boot from the flash or from the cd of the backtrack

backtrack successfully installed but the display is not complete ,backtrack display screen is not fully occupying the screen , i have  black screen on the four directions with the backtrack screen nearly in the middle , this problem  i faced when i first installed windows vista but once i downloaded the display adapter for m laptop for vista professional the screen is now fully fit but with backtrack i don't know where can i find the display adapter for installing over linux for backtrack ..


any help regarding this problem . please help me .

Hello Ethical Hackers,

There is a big problem in my life , which is i don't know what to take in my life or what is the next step , i admire ethical hacking and i want to be an CEH , i was preparing for that too to take the exam from EC-council .

but my friends told me to concentrate more on programming because i am .Net Developer using C# , They told me the person with two intentions will fail to do any one of them , They told me to concentrate on programming and leave E-Hacking . But i need to take them both , i merely tell them that there is no difference between them , an E-Hacker must understand programming and must be a professional programmer before being an E-Hacker to conduct vulnerability detection and actually E-Hacking is multidisplinary field you must understand (computer architecture, networking,electronics , embedded system design , operating systems fundamentals , programming ,web programming to conduct ethical hacking and countermeasuring those) So my question : can i hold the stick from the middle? i mean can i take them both ? or you guys left programming to be become E-Hackers , Really i am destroyed from inside , i would like to be CEH without losing my programming skills.

Second, the companies here demand programmers rather than e-hackers so if i would like to work i will work as a developer , i don't know how to work as CEH , i thought about building a simple personal small company for me and advertise for companies to conduct penetration testing for them ? so what do you think about this idea ?? please understand my situation and try to help me with advices from geeks in the industry like you guys . Hello My friends  , i would like to post my problem here.

 yesterday i was playing with intelligence gathering , i was trying to get the DNS of my target with this unix command

bt~# dig mytarget.com

mytarget.com                          A                   its ip address

but each time i execute this command , it returns for me each time a new ip address even when i try to extract its mail exchanger it gives each time a new domain like the following

bt~# host -t mx mytarget.com


so , does this target operates using load balancers in place which changes the ip address or what is the problem which changes the ip address continuousely .

NOTE: one from the ip addresses returned , i searched for it in MSN LIVE search and it points to many domains (so i think it is shared hosting).

hello guys , it is not backtrack distro alone but it is damn vulnerable linux version from www.damnvulnerablelinux.org  it is based on backtrack exactly but with some enhancements like documentations and the like .

i see the power on screen with white progress bar of virtual machine itself , the screen which tells me to push f2 for configuration or f10 for network configuration after that screen i see only a pointer at the top left corner and nothing happen , no linux bootloader or anything else

Hello everybody in this forum .

i want to install my backtrack distro on the virtual machine hard drive
i have downloaded the how tos pdf file for installation of backtrack from
offensive security web site and i followed the instructions step by step successfully but once i reboot , the virtual machine gives me a black page with only a small pointer at the left top corner and the screen stuck on that , i don't really know from where is the error , knowing that i repeated the procedure mainly of times carefully but i still get the same thing what is the problem then ......

Hello everybody in this forum , i would like to ask a question which
irritates me badly and i need a strict and real answer for it

the question is :

What is the future of ethical hacking in coming years in the presence
of the newer secure technology as Java and .Net applications

Where is there no buffer overflow vulnerabilities or the like ?

of those vulnerabilities exist in C/c++ and CGI scripting ?

to explain more my point of view


i find that vulnerabilities are decreasing from time to time in number

and incidence due to the new technology of

1 - .Net && Java where there is no buffer overflows ?

2- ASP.NET is secure , and to extract high risk vulnerabilities from
those technologies it is hard  and conduct more time

3 - Presence of IDS ( intrusion detection systems ) and IDPS (Intrusion
detection prevention systems )  , Smart Firewalls and the like


another question also i need to have an answer for

which is


<< what is the future of penetration testing as a carreer (if i want

to take this track as a job ) in the presence of those sophisticated

security technologies , Will network administrators depend on those machines in protecting their network or will need penetration tester for that ? >>> what is the future of vulnerabilities ??


do they decrease with increase in security technologies or what ?
