There is a lack of CTF style events in the UK, always happy to see more being arranged so when you have some more details would consider attending, just depends on location etc.

I do agree with Andrew though, Facebook isn't the best place for advertising this sort of thing, I avoid most Facebook related things.

I'm planning on building one of those, you can get the routers yourself for about £42.00 and download the firmware.

Was that's Robin's talk on "Breaking into Security"?? It was a good talk and long term learning a programming language is a good idea (I'm learning python) but for the OSCP course I don't think it's something to worry too much about.

I've been on the OSCP course for a couple of weeks, so far I've only used a little python and mostly bash scripts. From what I've seen any python you need you should be able to find on Google so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

There is a lot spread around the internet, so I thought it would be a good learning experience for me and might help some other people to stick it all in one guide for people.

Hi guys, I started my OSCP journey a couple of weeks ago. I'm really enjoying it and still working out the best way to approach it. I've watched some of the videos and read a lot of the PDF but spent more time working on the lab machines.

I've managed to "pop" a few of the student lab boxes but struggle with privilege escalation and re-compiling the exploits.

Nothing worth getting stressed about, it all's part of the learning curve and I'm having an awesome time..  Grin

Most of you will know what Scapy is, if you don't it's a python based network packet/manipulation/creation application that has a whole host of security "features". When I started using it I decided to compile a guide for beginners (like me) to help navigate around it's big list of features. If you are interested you can find my guide on the link below:

http://code.google.com/p/scapy-guide/downloads/list

I will add some more chapters once I've finished my OSCP course..

Any and all feedback welcome.
