I'll throw in what Iv'e been using for streaming games, haven't recorded with it, but I recommend it.

http://obsproject.com/

That seems cool.  So you can stream your desktop and voice?

Not to hijack the thread, but is there any easy way to put text bubbles on a desktop recording?  I'd rather have them embedded in the video than to put them on using youtube.
3  Ethical Hacking Discussions and Related Certifications / General Certification / Re: University degree using Certs on: February 28, 2013, 12:59:36 PM
But SANS certs isn't one of them?  You have to pay for SANS separately.  They don't use GCFA books for a course, which also prepares you for taking the GCFA exam later if you want, right?

Okay...  I've seen college courses where the course material is from a Security+, CISSP, or CCNA book and the class prepares you for a certification so I thought that's what this was.

Quote
The aim of this course is to provide professionals in the IT industry with a course of study in designing, planning, and implementing security as part of a secure computing environment and prepare for industry certification in these fields.

The above made it sound like it was similar to those courses.

Does this end up being a cheaper way to obtain SANS certs?

Do you know that you can also volunteer for a SANS' online course?

And you get the same discount?  What exactly are your obligations?
7  Ethical Hacking Discussions and Related Certifications / Other / Re: Tech books - physical or digital? on: February 10, 2013, 09:44:29 PM
I have a Kindle, and also don't like searching with it.  It's kind of odd because there are times when searching for that one phrase or something specific is easier done with an ebook, but more often than not I'd just rather have the physical book.

Not to mention the formatting or figures in technical books are often messed up on the Kindle due to the small screen size.  I really like Nostarch for their common sense approach to ebooks...  Buy a book, and get the ebook in all formats for free, and they even say you can give it to a friend or so just like you would a physical book; just don't give it out to everyone.
8  Resources / Links to cool sites. / Re: Ross Anderson's 2nd Edition of "Security Engineering" book is online (& free) on: February 05, 2013, 03:14:49 PM
"When I wrote the first edition, we put the chapters online free after four years and found that this boosted sales of the paper edition."

I'm kind of surprised a publisher would agree to this; or admit it increases sales.  Wiley just went up the list a bit on my favorite publishers.

Yup, I got a "sorry we missed you" email and a link to it yesterday.

I'm thinking after a little bit this webcast will be available here:  http://www.rapid7.com/resources/webcasts.jsp

Lame.  They said on their site after I signed up I'd be notified via email before it starts and I never got an email reminder or told how to view it. Sad  Hopefully they'll make the recording public...

Did this ever happen?   I never got a reminder, and the signup is still open.
13  Ethical Hacking Discussions and Related Certifications / Web Applications / Proxy like ZAP that works with IPv6? on: January 23, 2013, 05:28:32 PM
Does anyone know of a free proxy like ZAP that works with IPv6?  I need to view the contents of an IPv6 HTTPS connection.

I saw the We Are Legion documentary, and they seem like freaking idiots.  They're going to destroy Scientology by shutting down their website for a few days?  Guys, I'm pretty sure Scientology isn't a website; it's a religion.  That, or their protests didn't do anything to in any way shape or form "destroy Scientology."

There's a bozo saying about the protests "How long has it been since we had a huge really relevant protest.  I'm not talking Tea Party, I wanna bring my guns in public..."  Are you serious?  The tea party protests were not only way bigger, lasted way longer, but they got involved in the government and actually did something productive instead of shutting down a website.

Then there is that guy who is already I believe awaiting trial for hacking, and is on the FBI's radar and he goes and makes a youtube video saying how he's going to ruin the life of some specific FBI agent, and he has guns so if they knock down his door he's going to assume they're Zeta assassins?  For gods sakes man, on what planet is he on where he thinks that's going to work out well for him?

If I'm dumb enough to plan on robbing a bank, while I'm already awaiting trial for robbing a bank, I'm sure as hell am not going to post a youtube video saying I'm going to rob another bank!

They have a problem with Sony, so they not only hurt Sony, but tons of innocent customers.  They have a problem with the government lying to the public, yet on their own twitter they lie all the time to the public.  Saying they got data on citizens from the FBI, when they really got it by hacking some random company...

I can't even count how many times I face palmed watching that documentary.

I signed up for this a few days ago and am definitely looking forward to it.
