hi Jimmy all i got to say is you would never regret for stumbling on EHN at google. sit back ,relax and enjoy your stay.

one advice is to do more research with your own lab(if only you have one) or use the net and this site.

have a nice stay.

i second what Rich M said. If you are the administrator or the machine you can use group policy to restrict users from running a particular software.
go RUN------>pgedit.msc------>user settings------>software restrictions.

any prob you encounter let me know

NB: i don't want to beleive that in another way you are the user trying to by pass the administrator

Not all routers will allow you to scan their Lan!

yes this is because routers separate broadcast domains, but what ever be the case there will by all means be a next hop. if that next hop ip not the interface to the ISP then you have something to start with.

i think cain and abel can help u if the router broadcasts protocal updates

also you can do a traceroute to a public IP after you default gateway the next        1 or 2  hops is the wan link interface IP or the network behind ur Default GW

hope this works

Why is it that every new hacker start with an idea of causing harm to others have you forgotten the popular saying "love your neighbors as your self"
meaning you have to learn how hack your self before hacking  your neighbors.

i am very sure that if you had wrote that you are trying to hack into your own WEP enabled WRouter or AP there are people her ever ready to help you with but since u had a personal intention u asked the question straight.
hacking is like a gun how you use it depends on yourself but what ever happens don't let anyone "the law" call call you a murderer.

check this site out and be prepared to read a lot www.insecure.org
23  Ethical Hacking Discussions and Related Certifications / Network Pen Testing / Re: Reporting a vulnerability on: October 04, 2007, 05:24:32 PM
if you really want to report the vulnerability you found to the site admin.
why don't you create an account at gmail, yahoo or hotmail with fake info, also make sure you use a different IP cos email headers can contain ur IP and u would be tracked.if you think the email will be spammed you can drop your solution at a place the site admin will find on the wwwroot folder or somewhere safe for the admin.

this might not be ethical but it might work
24  Ethical Hacking Discussions and Related Certifications / Network Pen Testing / Re: good tool to find IP range in use on wireless network on: October 04, 2007, 08:53:24 AM
hi this is a little something i got for you
as long as you are connected to the network you can do an arp -a or -g at the windows command prompt.
if dhcp is disabled there will by all means be a default GW that allows you to reach the internet or the rest of the network.
this should work because arp maps IP to MAC, then after you get a single IP detect the class of IP eg. class A,B or C.

the  ;)hardway is to ping all host with in the network or subnet

sorry if this is a long method but as a hacker(ethical) you must do what ever it  take to get what you want.

hope this works if it doesn't please let me know.

NB:software tools were created by the human mind so you can think and create one for your self. Smiley
