Did you sing up with 60 or 90 days?

I was initially thinking of signing up for 30 days of labs, but after reading some other posts, I signed up for 60 days.

Have fun!!
Thanks

Right, so I received my welcome e-mail today. It contains links to the VM & videos, as well as a Lab Guide.

The note from the authors section of the Lab Guide really impressed me. I have not gone into the details of the lab guide yet, but for those who do not read the notes from authors (I do that always), do not miss this one. I can only imagine how the rest of the material will be.

@dbest - back in the day the majority were written in C but these days the most are written in perl, python and ruby. Look at exploit-db.com and see how many exploits are in C.

I have not looked at exploit-db.com of late. Apologize if I spread the wrong message.

Knowing the concepts of programming and learning one language certainly helps you move to another language quicker.
In Uni, our studies were focussed around C++. However that didn't stop me from writing a script in Perl to automate patch anaylsis in Solaris. I then moved to PHP (non-security related) and now am trying to understand Python.
So the bottom line is that, learn the language that you are and then its easier to move to another language by understanding their syntax.

You will notice that majority of exploits are developed in C.
Ruby is used to code exploits for Metasploit.
Any scripting language like Ruby, Perl, Python will help you automate few tasks.

Nice find. If they cover more than what is on metasploit unleashed its gonna be a good buy.

Hey BillV, quick question. How long do you think the self study would take?

When I studied for the CEH v5, I didnt spend more than 1 calendar month. This included my daily routine work, etc.

I have had past experience in the industry so that helped me breeze through majority of the lessons.

It shouldn't take that long. Jump on their IRC and ask an admin. Channel is #offsec

-C

Depends, did he provide a non-free email address that they can check? sometimes the background check takes a little longer due to certain factors (country of origin etc.) but still, hop on IRC and tackle an admin, good luck!

sorted by mailing them.
Now I am testing the connectivity to the lab. The last time I faced an issue with this and hence did not go through with the course.
Fingers crossed!

Looking forward to hearing about your experience.  I finished C|EH and CPT this year and found myself going "what can I do with this?"  I'm thinking about trying the OSCP later this year to see what I can pick up.

I have completed my C|EH and always wanted to do the OSCP. It seems more exciting.

I as well plan on taking this class, good luck.

Good luck to you as well.

I am still waiting to hear back from the team. Should I re-register? Been approximately 4 days.

Welcome to the site. I have been a regular visitor here, but signed up recently.

With regards to CEH, I would advice you to get a good testing lab and practice the tools. I am sure your real life experience will give you an edge over some others at the training. CEH does provide with exposure to different types of attacks and their countermeasures, but a bit of self study will be needed to get some in-depth knowledge.

Thanks for the info. Never tested it before, but kept hearing about it. Will have a go at the PHP static code analyzer against some of my code.
