After more research I cannot use DD-WRT on my router since it seems my router is a WRT54G v5.0 which neutered or lacking in RAM. They have a micro version which would work but all the info I found about it says it's not really worth it. Time to upgrade I guess lol Thanks for all the help

Look into setting up Vlans

Thank you chrisj for pointing me in the right direction.   Cheesy

I found the information I was looking for. Now to find out the exact specs on my router so I can download the correct DD-WRT.

4  Ethical Hacking Discussions and Related Certifications / Networking / Networking Question on: June 23, 2011, 08:41:07 PM
I have been searching for hours with not too much in the way of luck. What I am trying to do is set up my home network to be a bit more secure and I figure I could do this is I had a second subnet for wireless, for boxes not needing internet access, such as vulnerable test systems. However I have 1 router which I beleive is a Linksys WRT54G (I'm currently at work so I can't be 100% sure right now) . This router has stock firmware that has been updated. I had this idea while at work this evening and thought to research it. I have been hit and miss with information however. I thought I had my answer within the DD-WRT site but I think I was off by a long shot when I realized that method required 2 routers. Is there a way that anyone knows of to have 2 subnets with one router.

What I'm trying to figure out.

Wired LAN - Subnet 1
Wireless LAN - Subnet 2

Thank you in advance for any answer whether it be yes or know.

When I get home I will poke around in the setting to see what I can find out as well.
 Huh
5  EH-Net / Ethical Hacktivism / Re: So, whats your opinion about Lulzsec??? on: June 21, 2011, 06:29:49 PM
For this sticky situation, My possition would have to be as follows. I agree with the release of information they got from their hacks, HOWEVER I think they should have contacted said companies and informed them of the vulnerabilities without taking the information and posting peoples usernames and passwords online for griefing childish people to get their hands on and use however they please. What they are doing is illegal and as such they should be punished for their crimes, that's assuming they can be tracked down and arrested. I also feel that the LOIC that Anon has used so much is not a hacker tool, since from the information i could find on it tells me it's just for disrupting internet connections. Anyways that's my 2 cents.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can about everything to do with IT Security. I finished reading The Art of Intrusion recently and it has only increased my desire to learn. I have been doing as much research that I can on all the topics relating to this field. I'm enjoying every minute of it. The more I learn the more I crave to learn. When I use a tool in Backtrack I then look up information to see how it's working and what it's doing. I love it.

I just wanted to say Hello. I'm researching and getting as much reading and info in that I can. Anything that has to do with Information Security. I'm not new to the computer field, I have some computer repair background. I have basic visual basic, html and php coding skill. I have been tinkering with Backtrack 4 and I am in the process of downloading Backtrack 5. I'm looking into training for penetration testing and security auditing. I have used some of the Digital Forensics tools in BT4 to recover lost files from a hard drive her "tech" couldn't recover them from. This was because he had deleted the partition.

I have been looking around this site for a little while and I have enjoyed the articles and forums. I look forward to readin and posting more.
