Update: I have taken a 3-5 day break from the course because I've been researching so much but not making any strides in the lab. It's a little disheartening but I know it's part of the course.

I have currently compromised 6 systems but I have used Metasploit for each one. Over the past week, I have been doing outside research on: buffer overflows, sql injections, what to look for once I'm in the computer, and learning the network topology. There is so much too learn, it's a little overwhelming but still a lot of fun..I'm learning so much everyday.

My goal for the next week is to root my 1st system without using metasploit, that will definitely be a good day  .

After get a taste of the OSCP, I can't wait to finish this course and move onto the OSCE. A man can dream, can't he  .

^ I've been following the series, I hope they add a new interview soon. What's being said is not ground breaking but it's definitely interesting to hear multiple InfoSec professional's opinion on how to break into the field.

Has anyone taken the course? If so, can you please provide some sort of "small" review. I'm very interested in purchasing the course (not really for the certification but the 9 hours of video).

Have you passed the OSCP?

I've currently rooted 6 machines but my main focus for the next week is to get a system with either a buffer oveflow or some type of web app/sql injection attack.

Was it one of the "low hanging fruit" or did you use a buffer overflow?

I don't know man, I think you may need to add another screen on the bottom (4 and 4)..then it would be a real hackers lab.

Ahh I can't agree with you on that one.

No wonder people have a hard time picking a career. One day their profession is the "hot" job, 6 months later...it's obsolete. Laughable at best 

Not even 6 months later, DICE.com is posting an article that Linux Admin jobs are "endangered/obsolete". Oh how quickly they changed their minds  .

How did the interview go?

I don't believe the individuals who have taken the exam are able to answer that question. From what I have been told, if you can root the majority of the systems in the lab..you should do fine.
