Do you want understanding or certs? If you go for the certs first, you won't get the understanding. Better to get some experience and take classes in your areas on interest first.

Unless of course you just want something to hang on your wall.

Sure you can do them together, but I'd go for experience first in networks, servers, clients, Internet, etc.

I always find it interesting that most "attackers" feel that illwill is being injustly treated. Kinda of the mentality that it's okay to be an electronic Robin Hood: steal from the rich because you're poor (or you just want more).

Of course, it you steal from an attacker, that wouldn't be right. But steal from Gates, no problem. He'll never miss it...

Evidently, illwill has other convictions in his past, and not just theft or computer related. Goes a bit deeper.

Haven't seen it, but the security consultant who reviewed the script was interviewed, and while he suggested several changes, which were made, he said it was "a great movie" that pushed the security boundaries a bit.

No wonder people have such a poor understanding of security.

I don't think a movie that was true to life would be boring...
