As the article discusses, one would think they would've learned from the Sony rootkit incident.  Anybody have a Samsung laptop?

I didn't account for the timezone, but I caught the last few mins and they said the recording will be available on the website tomorrow.
410  Resources / Links to cool sites. / Metasploit Unleashed Videos on: March 29, 2011, 11:32:17 AM
I heard an interview with Georgia Weidman the other day on the PaulDotCom podcast about her SMS/botnet project (which is really cool by the way), then yesterday watched an interview with her on Hak5 at Schmoocon (again, talking about her SMS/botnet project).  I found her website only to find more goodies!  She helps run a hacker space called Reversespace and lately they've been holding classes to teach people Metasploit following Offensive Security's "Metasploit Unleashed" (something I've been trying to find the time to sit down and go through).  They're uploading all the videos and slides to the grmn00bs.com website.  I wasn't able to find an easy way to link them all with a single link (they're not all categorized under one category), so simply scroll down and you'll find week 1.

Was there a reason you took the v6 exam and not the v7 one?

If you can find a lockpick group in your area, I'm sure you could find someone there to let you test out a cutaway.  You could check this LockPicking101.com forum or just use some google-fu to see what you can find Smiley

**EDIT**
I guess "locksport" would be the term to use when researching for a local groups..?
415  Ethical Hacking Discussions and Related Certifications / Other / Re: Defending the Castle by Actively Abusing It on: March 28, 2011, 01:24:43 AM
I tried to write it not only as a thesis, but as a paper to allow others in this industry the necessary relevancy in pitching blackhat style (realistic) testing to managers, while explaining to managers why they need to allow their workers to do what needs to be done. "You can't run that tool!!!" Sure I can and its advisable that you allow me to

This is spot on, very nice write up!  And I agree w/ skitch on the cost analysis bit.  I know I'll be re-reading this and using some of the points you've made in future discussions with my company.  Thanks again for sharing! Smiley

Mike Murray posted a great article over at The Hacker Academy's blog: http://www.thehackeracademy.com/the-key-skill-set-of-great-penetration-testers/

He references an article posted over at InfoSecInstitute: http://resources.infosecinstitute.com/ideal-skill-set-for-the-penetration-testing/

Both are great articles I thought and may help you out a bit.
