31  Ethical Hacking Discussions and Related Certifications / CEH - Certified Ethical Hacker / Re: EC-Council and CEHv7 on: January 25, 2011, 10:26:59 AM
Thanks, Bill, for the info on trying to win a seat.  I'm trying to learn (more importantly) and get some useful certifications (less important, but really nice to have) on a tight budget. *Crosses fingers*

I faxed it in with a copy of the post linked to by the OP.  I think I need to make it simpler, pulling company and or people's names and trying to distill the content to make some poor overworked intern's life easier.

got a reply last week, they said I didn't provide enough information to locate any records.  I have been busy with the holidays and helping get my kids homeschooling back on track so I haven't had opportunity to followup.

I faxed one in, let's see what happens.  I am also trying to have the fees waived due to education purposes.  If this doesn't work, maybe the EFF would be interested.

Borat,

This is my first challenge ever and I have almost zero prior knowledge of VoIP.  I feel good about my answer and have learned a good bit about my tools and VoIP as a whole as a result of this.  It's not like you get electric shock if you are incorrect.  Have fun and try it!

This is my first challenge I have participated in.  I really enjoyed applying a great deal of my knowledge I acquired by studying for my Network+ and Security+ certs this year.  I also learned more about tools I have poked around with in the past.

Thank you

Thanks Guys!  I am excited about Lifetime, started studying for A+ back in July and saw A+, Net+, and Sec+ were moving to an expiring system, talk about motivation.

Not gonna know what to do with my free time between now and when I start studying CCNA.  Maybe learning Python.  and I finally get to paint my Warhammer 40k Models

Passed my Security+ yesterday with 884.  I reviewed all questions 2 more times before finally submitting the test.  Changed about 5-6 answers that I didn't like.  using similar questions as hints for other questions helped.

Same here, have been reading a lot and looking into the subject.  I have been interested in network security for a while and that doesn't hurt either.  I feel really comfortable and actually looking forward to taking my test on the 2nd (also looking forward to lunch afterward Grin )

CISSP looks like a good choice but I think I will first pick up my CCNA so I can further my career opportunities while working toward a security job.  I just got a good deal on 3 Cisco 2600 routers and have a c2900XL switch to play with.

I've read them too, I think I am just a bit nervous, that deadline for lifetime is coming up fast
42  Ethical Hacking Discussions and Related Certifications / General Certification / Ready for Security+, got a bargain on: November 23, 2010, 08:43:33 AM
After trying for a month and a half to get studying, I pulled the trigger and will be testing for my Security+ on the 2nd of December.   Are the questions like on the A+ and Net+ where I have 2 nearly identical questions and I have to choose the least wrong?  Any advice?

I was able to get 20% off by saving the email CompTIA sent me offering a discount on a voucher that expired end of October.  I opened the link in November and received 20% off a voucher that expires September 2011  Grin

Sil, I know simulators are an option, but I feel that the hardware will help a good bit.  Plus I would like to work my way to CCNP and CCIE some day, so why not start small now, when I can get some use out of them and have to bonus of having less stuff to buy later.

Catch Me if You Can was some great social engineering
Revolution OS was an interesting look into our past

Now I have gone and bought 3 Cisco 2600 series routers to play with (for $100 shipped), see what you have done?
