I worked with Mike Bailey for awhile at my previous job and can vouch for his knowledge and skills. This should be a good course.

This one looks to be a good one along with the "Practical lock picking" book I bought at the same time.

I would think that that book will be enough to pass the security+ but Syngress also makes a good book. syngress.com is a great resource for security books. There is also many video vendors out there. cbtnuggets.com, cccure.com, cccure.org, careeracademy.com, quickcert.com, for books there is Syngress as I mentioned, Wiley, Sybex, O'reilly. All are good resources for security and for certs. Also for any security cert that starts with a g you'll want to check sans.org, and giac.com for material. Again this all depends on where you want to take your career. Either way start with security+ and go from there.

Best place to start is probably with the Security+. It will give you the foundation you need to get in to the more in depth areas of security. Here is the link to it: http://www.comptia.org/certifications/listed/security.aspx

If you take this and pass before the end of this year it will be considered a lifetime cert that you won't need to renew. After that it will need to be renewed every 3 years if you want to claim the credential down the road. After security+ there is a long list of certs you could take. It really depends on your areas of interest.

For pentesting there are: CEH, eCPPT, GPEN, OSCP, and heorot.net certs and courses. (not all inclusive)

For a more broad range of security there is: SSCP, GSEC, SCNP, CISSP, and many more.

For OS Specific there is: MCSE:S, GCWN, GCUX, and many more.

For network specific there is: CCNA: sec, CCSP, JNCIS-SEC, GCFW, GCIA, CTP, and more

For web app sec there is: GWAPT, and more I am sure.

For forensic there is: CHFI, GCFA, and more.

For management/auditing there is: CISSP, CISA, CISM, and more

So like I said depends on what peaks your interest. Some of the certs require experience to become fully certified and certain criteria needs to be met. I would do some research in what area of security interests you most but would recommend starting with the Security+ first to get a foundation and go from there. Well I was all set to go this year and have been looking forward to going for sometime now. But now I have to go with my wife to Hawaii instead I hope next year I will get to go.

At my work we use Trend micro's officescan enterprise and actually microsoft security essentials found multiple infections that officescan, sysclean, malwarebytes, avast, and avg did not. I tested this for a few days straight as we where being bombarded with a few fake av viruses and microsofts solutions worked where the others failed. Also Ketchup I believe you are thinking of forefront for the exchange av which is still going on today and is used is some enterprises.
