Ethical Hacking Discussions and Related Certifications / Cyber Warfare / Re: Degrees?

I haven't been through the program myself but all I hear is great things about Western Governors University. They have a Masters program and the classes are all online and its cheap to go there. The classes are also based on certifications so you actually get the certs while completing the degree. Taking the certs is included in the cost of tuition. Tuition pricing is about $2900 for six months. Its not charged per credit. So if you can get through all the classes in 1 year the cost is about $6000 to get your masters from there. I would check it out. Here is a link: http://www.wgu.edu/online_it_degrees/information_security_assurance_degreeI went through the course details and found that a lot of Certifications are associated with the course. Also see that the student can complete the course earlier based on the commitment and involvement. Any idea on how fast one can complete if the student is already in possession of the listed certification with pretty good real life industrial experience? Well I never went there but I think dynamik and veritas_libertas are going there right now. If you have certs that are related to whats in the degree and its been less then 5 years since you passed it then it counts and you don't have to take that class which cuts down the time. Amusing that I am mentioned in a thread on a topic that I was searching through EH-Net for I'm attending WGU for my BS in Network Design and Management. I'm really unsure what I plan to do afterward for a Master degree, much less where I plan to attend.

Ethical Hacking Discussions and Related Certifications / GPEN - GIAC Certified Penetration Tester / Re: GSEC and GPEN Down

Thanks.
Part of my main reason for wanting to pursue the GSEC in the future is a search on Monster.com for security jobs. Really the only GIAC certification that you get when you search for GIAC is the GSEC. I figure for me, since I am not currently in a security role it would be best to hit the most commonly looked for security certifications, and then move into the more advanced ones when I have a job coincides with them.

@chrisj:
Funny that you ask me about South Carolina. I just moved to South Carolina eight month ago from West Michigan. It took me only a week to find a job after moving down. When I first moved down I was being bombarded by phone calls, and e-mails about different IT jobs. It has gotten worse down here since then though, and only in the last two weeks have I seen an upturn in job ads looking for IT workers. I suspect in the next month it will get even better for IT job hunters. Also, the further south you go in South Carolina the more IT jobs you will find. My wife has family in Upcountry so it's unlikely we will be moving very far away from the Upcountry.

Well my title is IT Ops Specialist. I work for a government contractor that has employees in Afghanistan, Iraq, Bosnia, and quite a few other places.My primary job is to deal with Desktop Support issues. I also (as of last week) will be helping to manage Pointsec whole drive encryption policies. I have an A.A.S. in Computer Network Technology, and am currently pursuing a B.S. in Information Technology from Western Governors University.
Anyone from South Carolina on here? I just moved from Michigan last year and would like to make contacts.
