Not judging anyone's personal decisions, but let's remember that, like the rest of this site, this board if for Ethical Hacktivism. I don't think anyone would argue with the fact that what they are doing is illegal.
I guess the point of trying to have an 'ethical' hacktivism board is to encourage people to protest and make their voices heard while still remaining legal.
Don
I agree with you, posting this info is just the first step into who knows what its eventually going to get to the names of the people that took out Osama. These people feel its important for everyone to have this info, I feel its going to eventually going to get good people killed.

The work of Lulzsec is clearly that of younger people. When there identities are known (and its not a question if, but when) you will see that the IT business is shocked that this can be done by some "kids who live with their parents". in the end they will spend a fortune on fixing everything, and within a few years it will all be outdated again, letting the story start from the beginning. </doomsday-mind> hmm, it may have happened sooner then i thought: http://www.lulzsecurity.comThis page ( http://lulzsecurity.com/) is currently offline. However, because the site uses CloudFlare's Always Online™ technology you can continue to surf a snapshot of the site. We will keep checking in the background and, as soon as the site comes back, you will automatically be served the live version. Alternatively, you can retry the live version. The site is back up, they have added Arizona Law Enforcement info: http://lulzsecurity.com/releases/chinga_la_migra_1.txtAmazed at those passwords! I have not looked at the document but could only imagine, but the problem is that no one is teaching these people what passwords should be.

I won't wish you luck. but will warn you to be careful. Make sure you document the hell out of everything. Screen shots are good too. If the laptop has a camera, try to snap a shot or two of the guy.
Then give EVERYTHING to the police.
I know, you're taking the prevailing (vigilante style) justice that our society has been holding up as a way it should be done because the system is broken and it won't get one otherwise. However I'm worried that if you're not careful you'll be the one in trouble with the law, not the guy that stole your laptop.
Actually, even giving everything to the police could be a problem, I mean there is a reason why Private Investigators are licensed right?
Good point but you can't help feeling bad for this guy. I hope hes able to get his stuff back without getting in trouble.

Hey Guys,
Thanks for all of the links! I expect they will be a huge help, if not for this, then for projects in the future.
Here is the update; We couldn't use the property tax information to zero in on the house. There are too many people in that zip code with this specific last name. So, we used the boundaries of the high school and the 5 surrounding networks to create a footprint. We then did our war driving. We've limited the house to 2 candidates and I'm going to try looking up the property taxes today.
We were pretty confidant about the house choice, but it was hard because there is so much interference from the 10+ networks on that block that it was hard to pin it to one specific house even with the network proximity app. I will keep you updated when judgement day comes.
Wish me luck!
Nice dude, I hope you get your stuff back.
