976  Ethical Hacking Discussions and Related Certifications / Network Pen Testing / Re: LearnSecurityOnline Rootwars open to EH-net members on: August 31, 2006, 12:48:00 AM
Some additional info:

How it will work:

we will meet in an IRC channel and be assigned teams with at least one LSO mentor per team.

You will then SSH into your host, secure it the best you can and then work on hacking the other teams boxes.  The hosts should all be different *nix variants.

time to put those CEH & CPTS and Linux command line skills into action...

post up any questions you have

All,

http://www.LearnSecurityOnline.com will be having a "baby rootwars"/speedroot this Saturday, 2 Sept 06, starting at 3pm EST.  International folks please check the world clock at: www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ so you are there on time. Everyone will be emailed with specifics. All players need to show up at least 30min prior to competition.

If you are interested in getting into rootwars this will be a "training" one with time to learn what you are doing and what needs to be done.

contact Joe McCracy (joe@learnsecurityonline.com) to sign up.

you need to learn to program (even if just enough to be dangerous), you need to learn to use a debugger and disassembler (again, even if just enough to be dangerous)
