thanks for the advice, I finished these books :
Metasploit - the penetration tester's guide Practical Packet analysys
I'm currently reading :
The Web Applicatino Hacker's handbook
I'm also extending the lab for 90 days.
This trip is going to take much longer than I anticipated, mostly because of the huge workload of learning stuff on your own, you guys have to admit, the OSCP is all about the lab, it has less to do with learning from the videos and the pdf's. I see them more as a 'practical example' of theoretical stuff you have to learn on yourself. I wish I knew it before so I could have digged the books before I took the OSCP plunge. For that I would say their text what you should know before the OSCP is kind off misleading.
That might explain why almost nobody passes the test the first time.

i just can log on to the ftp service. not to the machine remotely the ftp account is valid only for this service if could log on remotely escalating privilege was so easy
No, if you hacked the ftp service and you hacked the root account of the ftp service then you are already escalated for that service.

Elaborate further please. A negative critique can be just as valuable as positive ones.
I've learned enough in this class to make my head explode but I can't understand why I see not even a slightly negative review. Maybe it's just me having a low tolerance for errors in manuals. I don't want to come across as completely knocking this class. I'm not. But like I said, there is room for improvement. Hey hey hey !! You need to read my post more 9 days ago in my OSCP journey thread when I lost a complete DAY figuring stuff out, that made me really pissed :-))) :-) Thing is, I noticed that with OSCP you need to add at least 6 books that you should read before or wile doing this course. I think we must not forget that OSCP is all about the labs, not so much about the pdf and the videos...

Networking isn't as nice, for me, on VBox. When updates come for VMWare, they usually go cleanly, etc, but when they come for VBox, it regularly screws with the addressing on my configured networks, etc, and I have to clean up (not a HUGE issue, but an annoyance, when I'm in a hurry.) Additionally, in NAT, all NAT'd machines get the same IP, in VBox, which can get annoying, if you want them to talk to each other, on the NAT'd subnet. VMWare plays nicer, there, for me.
Vmware bridging is great uinty is awsome vmware tools is much more better than vbox specially for linux. And alot of many other features vmware brings to u Your post suggests that there is no bridging in VBOX or that the bridging in VBOX is not working correctly. Both very untrue, I use bridging in VirtualBox since years without any problems.
