There are many good course about, I think it really does depend on what you already know.

If you are only intrested in programing then securitytube Python course or there are tons of free online course take look some other post on this forum.

If its pentesting skills I would say elearn course I think its really good value for money and if your newbi I think it might be the best course around at the moment.

If you dont some pentesting before them I would maybe say OSCP.

I am not big fan of CEH I have never done it but read the book what is great if you a compete newbi to security and dont know anything. I never done the course and know they have tried to improve it a lot over the year but in the UK its not really regarded as a good cert to get.

The main ones in the UK are:
CISSP
OSCP
TIGER
CREST

The last two being the most inportant and hardest .

I do think more and more youngeters today are involved in black hat stuff. I dont know if this is down to lack ifnormation on what is bad and what is good or if they think they so young the law wont do anything to them.

I also think so many youngeters want to get into security and find it hard they get frustrated and end up getting involved in anoymouse or trying hack companies website to show off their skills when this has the revers affect for an employee.

Yah I agree but if you understand assembly then HTML should be simple. I also think that HTML is not used very often of course you should know it but I would say leanring PHP would be more worthwhile.

Yah I find backtrack the best one as it has so many tools and it just works. Its great for newbi to get started with without worrying about dependancies and all the other fun stuff.

Then I perfer to use Ubuntu and install tools I want or mac with home brew.

hmm well would not really say I was black Hat but I kinder into hacking at school I got fed teachers telling me what I could do. I was only like 15 at the time but wanted to be able to do interesting stuff on the school network. I managed to get admin password by looking over teachers shoulder and also found a bug in excel using macros that allowed you to install games and other stuff. I would not glass this really as black hat as I was too young to know any better and its not like i was writing virus or owning banks.

Now I am older I just love sharing skills and knowledge with others and love watching others own stuff think its really cool just want learn as much as I can and help as many people as I can too.
389  Ethical Hacking Discussions and Related Certifications / Programming / Re: Newbie here on: August 07, 2012, 02:53:35 PM
Think that would be a good start for a newbi not really sure on the HTML as if you can code in assembly HTML should be as easy as writing your own name.

The structure I tened to follow is this:

Exec summary - Bit bout the job, bighest issue found, Fixes for biggest issue and conclusion

Scope of work - What was covered and not covered

Issue found - Title, Description, Port number,Ip address, and Impact

Issue impact - What could this cause if exploited

Issue Recommendation - How to fix it with maybe useful links to OWASP

FInal conclusion - Explain how to fix all the issue and a time frame when they should be done.

all my reprots pretty much following this method be only happy to help more if you need it...
