My suggestion would use vmware server or vmware player if you have a lot of memory on your pc(highly recommended). Try using it since you are booting for the whole ISO or just the vmware image for bt4 . I know not all on the irc chatters of #offsec would answer to your question. Try also to create a vm for windows XP that might come in handy make sure its sp2. Personally I would prefer two pcs one with the video and one with the bt4. Anyways converting it to avi was like forever so I wouldn't advice that. Setup your leo or I guess they change it now right?! You guys would be using a template for a real pen test. Featuring packet injection, Karmetasploit, Social Engineering Toolkit .. oh my!
We are proud to announce that we are finally approaching a beta release of the first BackTrack Mobile operating system for the Nokia N900! The release will be public shortly before the Blackhat and Defcon conferences in July 2010.

We will provide a list of features and download instructions on our site and to those that have subscribed to the email update list once the beta is completed.

You can expect fully supported packet injection using the internal wl12xx (wl1251) driver with this release. And to reiterate our intentions, this project will be 100% free to download!

I thought the exercises were pretty good but I personally skipped 1 or 2 of them. I suppose Friday I'll have an official answer for your question but for now I'd say nail as many machines as you can - use your lab time wisely! The lab is so addicting that I've heard people pay for more lab time even after they take the exam, just for more pain and suffering.
