Features / Book Reviews / Re: Exam Prep Errors

I'm surprised no one else has posted anything about this yet... I bought this book as I saw several people had mentioned it was a good read before the CEH exam. I have read through it and taken my notes already, so I decided to take the written test in the back (110 questions). As I was comparing my answers to the answers in the back, I noticed several that just didn't make sense to me as to how I could have gotten them wrong. Upon further inspection, I noticed that some of the letters in the back, did not correspond with their correct letters in the question. The text explanation and answers all seem fine, just some letter mix-ups. It's a little confusing when you're just comparing letter-to-letter. Here are the fixes: A. 27: D should be C A. 31: B should be D A. 40: B should be C A. 51: B should be A I suppose it's a good sign of preparedness that I can recognize when my answers should be correct, right?? Hope this helps someone - V

Heh, funny that you mention that as that's exactly what I did. I started downloading ISO's on both of the client laptops so I had some constant traffic. That helped at the beginning to start gathering a more steady amount, but I still didn't get the end result I wanted. I'd imagine it's just like you said, due to the low traffic.

I know there's a post about this below, so I'll try to keep this as general as I can without knowing what the other posters intentions are.
I must be doing something wrong, because it's taking a loooong time to collect enough weak IVs. I've scanned and found the target SSID/MAC and associated client MACs. Then I start to capture the traffic, followed by sending traffic, and I'm just not really getting anywhere.
I must have spent at least 30 mins and only collected 55K or so. If someone can help, or wants more info, I can do so in pm.
Also, I'm only running the 64-bit and have 2 other clients connected when trying this. Could it be that there's just not enough traffic?
Thanks for any help.

Thank you for the info, it's helpful. I understand what you're saying about the time limit. I was offered a pretty good package from the gentleman I was dealing with there, but he gave me a link to a demo for the CEH and I was not very impressed. Yes, it's a demo, but I still thought that it could have explained a little more in-depth information. What's your opinion as far as the quality of the information? Does it seem to cover what it should?

I've not seen anything about this posted or written anywhere, so maybe some of you can answer this question. I noticed there was a book advertised somewhere (maybe even in a post by someone here, can't remember where I saw it; if I find it I'll post the title) about aggressive network defense. This has always been something I've been a little curious about and it brings me to my question: Is it ethical to attack your attacker?
Thanks, V
