2  EH-Net / News Items and General Discussion About EH-Net / Re: Need Everyone's Feedback!! on: December 11, 2006, 01:21:10 PM
IMHO, there will be no a breach of agreement if posted question was based on (possible official) study guide for the exam.

In case the question truly can be found in the real exam, authorized person should/can contact forum administrator any time and ask to exclude the question from the view.
3  Features / Opinions / Intel wireless drivers vulnerable on: December 11, 2006, 01:08:21 PM
Intel recently issued updates for Centrino chipsets and it's family of PROSet drivers.

A number of bugs reported:
   - Malformed Frame Remote Code Execution
   - PROSet/Wireless Software Local Information Disclosure
   - Wireless Driver Malformed Frame Privilege Escalation

Check what drivers are vulnerable

Anybody seen any proof-of-concept exploits ?
4  Features / Opinions / Re: Linux vs Windows on: December 11, 2006, 12:56:15 PM
One thing - how secure is linux/unix kernel.
Just another - secure deployment of network services (Apache, PHP, xSQL, DNS, SMTP)
5  Features / Opinions / Personal firewalls for Windows - [Comodo] on: December 11, 2006, 12:46:18 PM
Hi !

Free firewalls outclass paid-for ones, test reveals ! Do you agree ?
That's just what John E. Dunn, from Techworld.com recently wrote
www.arnnet.com.au/index.php/id;159719021;fp;8;fpid;

As a beta-tester for Outpost firewall for a few years, I do can agree the latter has a lack of protection against leak tests.

Even before I read Mr. Dunn's review I've decided to give a try to freeware Comodo firewall (version 2.3.6.81 available from here - http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/license_registration.html
(To download software, you will have to register on their site. Activation code will be sent by e-mail)

Until then, I am fine with Comodo firewall. Just one minor inconvenience experienced: I've unintentionally blocked DNS requests sent from Firefox 2, had to turn off "Monitor DNS requests" option in Application Behaviour Analisys and then clear DNS cache with "ipconfig /flushdns"

Stay protected !
