Thank you Bill, Don & Jason for inspiring words..
  • I studied the Sybex Review guide and just flied through Exam Prep.
  • Also I took help from Counter Hacks Reloaded.
  • When I found few topics interesing / challenging I went to various open forums to get a grip over them.
  • Subscribed to various security feeds to keep myself updated. (I know I have just seen the tip of Iceburg )
btw. I now need to continue this and looking for next level of certification. Can any of you guide me through this.
I even read about CISSP and found it to be in demand? What are your thoughts on this?
My current work profile is far away from all these and hence certification is the only way I can get in to this domain.

 Hi
Thank you every body at EH-Net, for guiding my way through first step in this field.
I came across EH-Net last November and after visiting forums as guest .. finally decided to join the community in Dec 08.
The community advised me the correct way to learn and practice, build my own lab at home to have fun with most of the tools and cleared all my doubts for taking the certification.

What Next .. with current job scenario. I might not find time to continue with next level of certification.. but will surely hang around in this space to get the most out of it ..
Senior members - Help me deciding my next step. Can you provide links to the sections which are helpful to decide?

For all the prospective Exam takers:
The best way to prepare for exam is .. PRACTICE & PLAY....
You may pass the exam with any of the dumps or study notes, but its no brainer and not at all fun...
Follow the advice of Hero & Sr. Members .. You will enjoy every moment...

Once Again THANK YOU !!!!

This forum & its members ROCKS !!!  Cool
Never expected such overwhelming response.
Thank You so much blackazarro , shednik & jason .. this was all I needed to start my study..
I have ordered the CEH Official Guide & Counter Hack Reloaded books
And will setup my environment using the information provided.

@ shednik  Regarding the Lab Guide I have an old printout from the EC council bootcamp course. They have mentioned the lab environment setup of their class. But I think the links above have more clear details regarding the setup.

Once again thanks .. just cant wait to setup my environment and start learning tools.. Smiley

Hey Shednik

I am referring to a old Lab guide borrowed from a friend to set up the environment. CAn you tell me if you are referring any specific material to set ur's?
I am planning to order the Self Study material once I get the approval from EC Council to go for this certification.
Which material are you referring for your study?

Hi
I have recently joined this forum after deciding to give my career a new direction in Security arena and complete few aspirations I had during my graduation..

Member Geekyone helped me to clear up my mind and decide to go for CEH.
But had few doubts regarding preparation for CEH
If I opt for self study .. due to nature of my current job ..
how can I practice these tools. I cannot play with these tools in public networks ..
I have two laptops one with Vista Business and other is a MacBook (Leopard 10.5)

I have installed Parallels on MacBook, so I have other OS also in virtual environment
Windows XP in Boot Camp, Win 2003 Server & Ubuntu 8 in Parallels VM
You see I play a lot with my MacBook
So can I use most of the tools just with my own laptops or should I enroll in some virtual training networks to learn these tools?

Thanks & sorry for Long post  Wink

One more query (not sure if this is correct thread or not)
Thanks again .. keep up the good work..

Hello
I a ma newbie to security arena. I am planning to shift from my current programming/developer profile to security. Was planning to go for CEH certification as a starting point, but reading this post confused me.
Can any experienced member clear out this. I read the post mentioned in the link but it was really old. So want to know what value does it add to my resume after getting CEH (I do agree just having certification doesn't make me expert in security, but I need a start).

Thanks
