151  Resources / Career Central / Part Time Teaching, how did you get a foot in?? on: June 18, 2008, 04:56:55 PM
Hiya Guys,

as you can see I dont post to much, but I do look on lots of forums and do lots of readings, and I really should contribute more, and I will. This leads me onto my question.

I am in the UK, but I dont think its really matters for this question.
Now I dont claim to be some Ubber Guru or anything, but I have been working in Networking and Security for a fair few years now, so I must know something, right? Smiley

Anyway I would really like to give something back, and help to develop the professionals of the future. So I am thinking perhaps I can add some value by doing some teaching / lecturing at local college or university to give the students some of my experiance and expertise, and possibly help focus their direction.

I wonder if any of your guys have done something similar, and if so how you went about getting your foot in the door. I am thinking about contacting my old lectures (if they are still there as it was about 11 years ago I was there) and asking them if I could add some value to the lessons.

I am not particularly looking to make some money, I just feel I could help out others, give some real world scenarios, learn from the students, and perhaps put myself under some pressure with the questions they might pose.

So any hints and tips would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance guys.

Hiya Don,

good presentation, and you had some refreshing "true" comments to.
Keep up the good work, and enjoy that family.

All the best going full time with your solo projects.

153  Ethical Hacking Discussions and Related Certifications / Certification / Opinions on CISM?? on: September 19, 2007, 04:58:09 AM
Hiya guys,

any of you guys done your CISM? I am just thinking of doing this in a year or so as I am sure it may come in handy for later life. I studied the CISSP a few years ago, so wondered how this compares from those in the know.

Thanks in advance.

154  Ethical Hacking Discussions and Related Certifications / Forensics / Re: Forensic case data retention on: September 05, 2007, 10:00:01 AM
Unless there is a legal requirement or a legislative requirement to your company for data preservation then I don’t think there is a need to store this after a case has ended.

However if storage is not an issue, I would consider saving for 6 - 12 months incase something to do with the case reopens, in either case I would seek guidance from the legal / compliance department to cover your own back.

I have seen the same thing a couple of time recently.
I assumed it was the usual spam rubbish, the most anoying thing is it closed the browser.

I have run a virus and defender scan and all was clean, I guess I should give another piece of spyware a go.

I have been using an IDE FastBlock from Guardian up till now, but its been messing around. So I am upgrading the lot and have gone for a Tableau T35i Forensic SATA/IDE Bridge. Should arrive this week hopefully.

I am also in the UK, but as I am in the Midlands I would vote not for London.
Only due to the expense and difficulty getting in and out.

Maybe depending on who is looking at attending, somewhere in the middle for the majority.

Are you asking about the drawbacks of encryption in the corporate environment, when it comes to carrying out forensic investigations?
160  Resources / Links to cool sites. / Re: Vulnerability Assessment Site on: January 10, 2007, 09:11:12 AM
Nice little site.
These types of site seem to be on the increase at the moment. I guess its just a case of finding your most favorite and using that one, or in alot of cases a combination.

Is anyone running Vista and BitLocker yet?
I will be moving to Vista this week and I am thinking of giving it a go.
I dont really store much data on my local machine so not to sure of the benefits for myself at this stage.

Thanks for the response.
Is there any information on the content change for the v5 CEH?
163  Ethical Hacking Discussions and Related Certifications / Certification / Keeping your CEH valid? on: November 10, 2006, 08:06:36 AM
Hiya guys,

my first post and its a question.

With the CEH, how long is it valid for? Do you gather something similar to CPE points like with CISSP to keep it current.

Thanks in advance.
