Where he used a broken open scanner, connected to an Ipod to 'download' the images of the passcodes from a screen?  I don't know if such a hardware hack is easily possible like that, but it was a cool add in I thought.

It did make for a cool movie bit, but I'm thinking that it looked pretty impossible. Maybe with some advanced prep work and some serious hardware knowledge, but not the way they showed it in the movie.

For linux there are a few (relatively) vendor-neutral certs such as comptia's linux+ and LPI's level 1-3 certs. There are also a bunch of vendor-specific ones for redhat, suse, etc...

This is all well and good, as long as the companies are actually complying with it. In the case of the TJX breach, they were in violation of 9 of the 12 security areas that are mandated by PCI.
