If you forward the URL with the instructions, we might be able to help out more.

From the sound of it, they're just tracking things from the server end. I'd be curious to know how many people in the general public would jump at this if their wireless provider offered it. Quite a few, I'd imagine.
3  Ethical Hacking Discussions and Related Certifications / Physical Security / Re: Key Duplication from Photos on: Yesterday at 11:30:12 AM
Hrmm I wonder if one approach or the other would leave more or less physical signs of the lock being opened. Sounds like its time for an experiment Smiley

I agree. Sounds like a situation that you would be better off having washed your hands of.

Hrmmm true. That might be a *very* good opportunity to mess with the researchers. "They're all in one men's room stall! All 100 of them!"
6  Resources / News from the Outside World / Would you trade your privacy for a smartphone? on: November 30, 2008, 05:36:52 PM
100 students at MIT are trading privacy for free smartphones. Their calls, text messages, music habits, location, and who knows what else are being tracked by researchers at all times.

I wouldn't go for this deal, would you?

That's where the lower-tech approach might come in handy  Grin

Yup, several here will do that as well for a small extra fee. Be careful hosting from your own connection though. You may be painting a bit of a target on yourself, depending on what it is.

Hrmm house alarms are a good one. I think there are also garage door openers that allow you to initiate a change of key from the remote, which would also qualify, I think.

Ran across a design for a portable RF jammer today:

Might be fun  Grin Also might be illegal, depending on where you live.
11  Features / Book Reviews / Network Intrusion Alert on: November 29, 2008, 03:22:28 PM
I was browsing in my local B&N today and ran across a copy of Network Intrusion Alert from Thompson. I sat down to browse it and, lo and behold, one of the authors is Manu Zacharia. I didn't know that we were in the presence of greatness Tongue I'll give it a read and let you know how it was.

Depending on what exactly you're serving, you might be able to find a cheap or free hosting service.

Some ISPs even go as far as to block traffic to common ports, such as 80.
