1  Ethical Hacking Discussions and Related Certifications / Certification / Re: CISSP -- Step by Step on: May 31, 2008, 12:49:35 PM
I've responded to a few other posts here regarding CISSP preparation and maintain that if you meet the requirements to sit for the exam then you simply need to take it.  Don't waste time and money on classes.

2  Ethical Hacking Discussions and Related Certifications / Certification / Re: CISSP followed by GSEC certification on: May 31, 2008, 12:44:39 PM
I have my CISSP and had thought about acquiring GSEC just as you have.  After looking into it though I would agree with the other posters in that it won't really add much value.  I'm leaning towards a combination of the GIAC certifications in the advanced track.

Hope this helps.

3  Ethical Hacking Discussions and Related Certifications / Certification / Re: What will a CISSP do for me? on: May 31, 2008, 12:40:07 PM
My opinion is that if you meet the requirements to get the certification then just do it--no classes/bootcamps/scams.  You already have the knowledge.

Having it will open doors.

4  Ethical Hacking Discussions and Related Certifications / Certification / Re: 7 Types of Hard CISSP Exam Questions and How To Approach Them on: May 31, 2008, 12:31:26 PM
I found preparing for the test more difficult than the test itself.  That's the way it should be though.  I read only three books--two of which were pretty much of no value to me due to content and writing style.  The rest of my knowledge simply came from my work experience.  As for the poster's linked .PDF, it's useless.  I didn't get anything out of it that I didn't already know from reading ISC2's site, the three books, and various public sources on the Internet.

Hope this helps.

Jonathan Lampard, CISSP (#120621)
