76  Ethical Hacking Discussions and Related Certifications / Security / Re: C|HFI or ECSA/LPT? on: September 16, 2012, 10:22:49 AM
Well, CEH and ECSA are required in order to be eligible to obtain LPT. I went this path without doing CHFI and didn't face any obstacles or similar.

Take a look at Fuzzing - Brute Force Vulnerability Discovery. It gives a good introduction into the topic and covers most of the common tools.

There's no way that with basic programming skills and basic linux and windows administrating skills you are able to pass that lab and test successfully. Maybe somebody has done it. but the other 95% won't.

The requirements are meant as the things you need to know to get started with the course - not the requirements to pass the exam. You should increase your knowledge throughout the course, so that eventually you can pass the exam.

The answer to your question is in m0wgli's post itself as well as in the links he provided.
80  Ethical Hacking Discussions and Related Certifications / Programming / SecurityTube GNU Debugger Expert on: September 08, 2012, 04:30:28 PM
Looks like there is another course/certification coming from Vivek:

Quote
Description: The GNU Debugger or GDB as it is popularly called is one of the most important tools in a binary analysis researcher's arsenal. Unfortunately, even though the official documentation is HUGE, it's quite difficult for beginners and even intermediate users to pick things up!

The SecurityTube GNU Debugger Expert course and certification aims to help you get up and running with GDB. In course of these videos we will look at applying GDB on multiple architectures - 32, 64 and ARM. We will look at how to do runtime analysis, program disassembly, reverse engineering and a ton of other fun things!

In the first video, we take you through what the course is about and get started with setting up a lab and with our first customary demo Smiley

PDF slides and C Code used in this video can be downloaded here: http://www.securitytube.net/sgde?id=1

For your Infosec Certification needs please check our courses out: http://securitytube-training.com/

Because those are the rules. Tongue

But seriously, if you don't just rely on MSF or a vulnerability scanner in the labs, you shouldn't face any problems in the exam either. Wink

Do all servers have multiple access ways ? Or is that only with a few ones ?

I'm not sure if all, but when I did the labs I discovered on quite a few machines more than one way to get root/SYSTEM. Smiley

All restrictions are mentioned in the exam guide that will be sent just before the exam starts.
84  Ethical Hacking Discussions and Related Certifications / ECSA - EC-Council Certified Security Analyst / Re: ECSA Materials on: September 06, 2012, 01:25:58 PM
When I did ECSA I just referred to the curriculum (only the first ten modules will be relevant for the exam) and did self-study. The exam isn't very difficult, so it shouldn't be much of a problem to pass without the official courseware.

is it possible to root all box in OSCP Lab without metasploit?

Yes. Metasploit does nothing you can't do on your own.

If you are not in a hurry, you might want to wait until October, when the second edition of Practical Lock Picking will be available. The first edition was a nice read, so it's most likely the second one will be even better. However, as ajohnson said, lock picking is really something you "need to practice and learn to feel".
