ok i've downloaded vmplayer to run livecds on vmplayer.
now when i edit the configuration file and then load it and vmplayer opens i always get the same error. which is:

operating system not found.

And i have the config file in the same directory as the iso. Anybody ever encountered this type of problem?

ok so ive just downloaded metasploit version (3) and works perfectly.
i cant get 3.1 to work properly so i just backtracked a bit. I'm just going to use version (3) instead of (3.1).

i understand what your saying but what if installed it on my hdd. And then i still get the same error. Then the installation would been for nothing. My question is there any way around this error?

No actually im getting the same output even before i downloaded ruby.
i downloaded metasploit the first time without ruby installed and got the same results. everytime i tried to open metasploit web it was just a quick dos box and dissappears and metasploit gui dont even open.

So i tried downloading ruby, and the samething happens.
it shows a quick dos box and disappears.

Have you downloaded netcat and just clicked on the program and it just showed a quick dos box then closed unless you put it in a particular directory?

Thats exactly what metasploit 3.1 is doing to me. just showing the dos box whenever i click on the metasploit web.

i downloaded metasploit 3.1 and the install was flawless.
i downloaded ruby as well same results.
now when i try and open "metasploit gui or metasploit web" it just show quick dos box and disappears. The gui doesnt even open at all. Any ideas what could possibly be wrong?

further more info: im currently running "vista home pre"

when i boot bt2final off of the livecd i burned i get an error.
it says like:
" livedata not found, unsupported scsi or pcmcia cdrom boot from main directory c:\"
It says this error right when it gets to usb detection.
i tried cheatcodes nothing happened.
i tried to check md5 it was ok.
i tried alot of stuff.
i searched countless forums and noone has the answer.
but it boots fine on my desktop but it dont boot on my laptop.
i have dell insiron with a dell wireless 1390 wlan mini card.
is it not supported because of my card?
because i cant download any wifi tools for windows thats compatible with that card, i always get an error that says "unsupported card" does it mean i have to buy another card for bt2 final to work or any other tool period?

Hey everyone quick question.
I was wondering if dell laptops preferably "inspiron" werent compatible with "aircrack"? So i was reading a port on another forum and they were saying that alot of dell standerd wifi cards are "broadcom" and are not compatible. Is this true? And if so do i have to buy one? Because you suppose to get this message when you type (airodump)
