Hi jinx.
Welcome to this awesome forum. I think the first question is why you wanna be a hacker? Because learning hack is not an easy work, so if you wanna learn it just for fun or malicious purposes, i think you won't be hacker it's better!!!

But if you wanna be a pentester and make some money of it (in a legal way) here is pre requirments:

1. Networking: You must be familier with networking basic and i think "Sybex network plus fast pass" is a good book for that.

2. Linux: I think there is no hacker in the world who doesn't know linux. Because linux provides good platform for hacking, so you should learn ubuntu first then learn backtrack linux.

3. Virtualization: For exrcises you may need more than two computers, so virtualiztion helps u to run all of them on a computer through virtual machines. Its an important major to learn.

4. Programming: Python and Html are easy ways to start learning programming you can sign up at codeacademy.com and learn it for free.

PM me if u want i can help u for further problems.

Regards, cyber.spirit

A quick Google search revealed a list: http://www.howtogeek.com/117674/the-best-websites-for-free-online-courses-certificates-degrees-and-educational-resources/

Not all of these provide free certificates, but you do get the courses for free.

i spent hours to find those free cert services on google, but thank you it was a good website

I just noticed in your first post that you had a capital X which won't change it, but your last post has a lowercase x. Just interested to know, do you still get that problem if use a lowercase x?

No No it was just wrong type here i know x must be lower case and i typed lower case in ternminal but it didn't work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

What command is it barking about?

Also, if you're already sudo su, why are you sudo'ing the final command?

Yeah ur right i'm wondering too however i used sudo su but if i dont use sudo for my command it gives me perm denied error

Could be many things, have you checked all the usual candidates? download checksums? File/user permissions? etc?

Possible stupid (and/or insulting - not intended) question, you are in same directory as the *.run installer when issuing the ./*.run command?

I'm running on 12.10 and MSF running perfectly my end.....

If i can rename it del it and make it executable through terminal it means i have enough perms and my path is correct im not new on linux

Yes i did that but i got the same error
