Thanks folks - i'll look that site up as well Dark.  I knew it was going to have something to do with packet crafting.  I checked out Scapy yesterday as well.  Way over my head at this point - BUT THAT'S THE FUN OF IT!!!

It helps to learn about and study the system before trying to defeat it rather than just following instructions with little background/knowledge which will get you no where when dealing with different scenarios, try read some books on firewalls, maybe this is a good start:

+1 for the book suggestion from ZeroOne, will set you in the right direction, read this in my first year of University and still use it as a reference from time to time.

I read that book. I liked it a lot. Part of me would like to see another update to it.
