Title: Is it possible to use Tor in a lab enviorment?
Post by: Shock on October 11, 2012, 03:54:36 PM
Finally getting everything set up for a VMware workstation lab but I've come across a bit of a problem.

I want to simulate the ability of the attacker to use the Tor network to attack a system but can't figure out a way to do so without making the lab "live" on the internet (which is something I naturally want to avoid as much as I can).

Is there anyway I could use Tor in a controlled environment to test this?

While I'm not an expert on TOR, and I could be wrong...

If you get enough of your systems in the lab set up, you could try setting up a tor node network. you might have to do some interesting work to make it happen.

Good call. It looks like you can indeed setup a private TOR network: https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/wiki/doc/TorFAQ#HowdoIsetupmyownprivateTornetwork

Sweet, I wasn't able to get to the Tor Project from work.
