Google also has a series of videos on python programming for Google Python Class: http://code.google.com/edu/languages/google-python-class/

It's mostly basic stuff, but should be enough to get someone interested in learning python moving forward.

There's lots of good material at Udacity as well: http://www.udacity.com/

You create a Python search engine in the Intro to CSci course, and that covers a lot of the basics.

There is also the SecurityTube course: http://www.securitytube.net/video/3786
