I am in the process of looking to a position where I develop my skills. My time at the public school district where I am employed seems to be coming to an end due to an unfortunate budget situation and if I was to win this would be an excellent way to peruse a new position. You can "go to DefCon" and waste the entire time at a bar. I mean, you can do a lot of important networking at the bars too. I guess what I'm trying to say is do some research and pick the right bars.
Seriously though, simply showing up at a conference isn't going to magically launch your career.
